WSAB free local learning event 14 March 2018

Wiltshire Safeguarding Adults Board are holding a free learning event on Wednesday 14 March 2018. The event will be an opportunity to hear from local experts and to gain a better understanding of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 to ensure that you are using the Act as a framework to empower people to make decisions for themselves wherever possible, and to protect those who lack capacity.

The session will focus on learning from real life case studies and it is for anyone who is working with vulnerable adults across the health and social care sector.

MCA and Dols Training Event

In response to the feedback received from the NHSE Adult Safeguarding Conference in October 2017, NHS England South (Central) is planning to hold 2 half day training sessions on the application of MCA and Dols and case scenarios for healthcare staff. The dates are as follows:

Wednesday 18th April 2018 in Swindon (venue to be confirmed)

Friday 20th April in Oxford (venue to be confirmed)

These sessions will provide safeguarding healthcare staff with the confidence to use the MCA and Dols to safeguard vulnerable clients in their care. Hannah Taylor (Senior Associate- Bevan Brittan) will provide the training. She is and experience lawyer in the practical application of MCA and Dols. There will be no charge for these half day training sessions but there is an expectation that you obtain your managers approval before any application is made, to ensure that you are able to attend.

Public Health Training – Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Health
